At the end of 2015, BMW introduced us to the spiritual successor of the 1M Coupe…….the M2. The ethos of the baby M car was to provide a simplified and accessible entry point to the BMW M range whilst at the same time endearing itself to the purist’s vices which had originally made the 1M Coupe such an undisputed success.
In 2019 at the LA Auto Show, BMW unveiled their most driver focused version to date, the M2 CS. Building on the already very capable M2 Competition, the CS gained a series of enhancements including a modest power increase along with adaptive M suspension, a revised carbon fibre bonnet and roof as well as a new active exhaust system and more sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.
In the end, 2,200 cars were produced globally with just 104 units supplied to the UK market.
Such was the success of the car that in 2020, it won the coveted Evo Car of the Year (ecoty).
