Launched in 1995 and designed by Steve Mattin and Bruno Sacco, the W210 was the second generation offering by Mercedes Benz of their now iconic mid-size saloon car.
In 1998, Mercedes first introduced the E55 AMG moniker. Powered by a 5.4 litre M113 V8, the E55 offered the smooth ride and dependability which had become synonymous with the W120 but at the same time the refined power and performance which came with the AMG badge.
In 2001, the W210 E55 received a mild facelift incorporating a host of mechanical and cosmetic upgrades to the car. In the end, just 653 facelift units would be produced globally before it was replaced by the W211 in 2002.
To this day, the W210 E55 AMG remains an iconic noughties performance saloon. In many ways a trailer blazer for modern AMG performance cars, its iconic Monoblock wheels and subtle performance styling remain hugely desirable among collectors and enthusiasts still today.
